DUTIES: Under direct supervision, this position will primarily serve the counties of Chattahoochee, Marion, and Talbot. Performs duties in all aspects of the program to include, but not limited to providing conducting plan reviews, inspections, and complaint investigations in Food Service, Tourist accommodations, public swimming pools/spas/RWP, Land use, Body art studios as well as other mandated EH programs (Rabies Control, EH Emergency Response, etc.). *Travel is required for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university which included the completion of at least 27 semester hours (or 40 quarter hours) of laboratory sciences (e.g. chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.)
Additional Experience Required for EHS 2: Minimum qualifications AND One year of experience at the lower level, PH Environmental Compliance Specialist 1.
Additional Experience Required for EHS 3: Minimum qualifications AND One Year of experience at the lower level, PH Environmental Compliance Specialist 2 or position equivalent AND completion of the Georgia Environmental Health Training class.
Additional Experience Required for EHS 4: Minimum qualifications AND One year of experience at the lower level, PH Environmental Compliance Specialist 3 or position equivalent AND completion of the Georgia Environmental Health Training class.
Additional Experience Required for EHS 5: Master’s degree in environmental health, public health, or related field from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor’s degree from and accredited college or university which included the completion of 27 semester hours (or 40 quarter hours) in laboratory sciences (e.g. chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.) AND current registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Sanitarian by the National Environmental Health Association or an equivalent recognized credentialing board AND One year of experience as a PH Environmental Compliance Specialist 4 (RCP123) or position equivalent.
Salary will be adjusted based on prior environmental health experience and degree of education. Applicants considered for the EHS 2, EHS 3, EHS 4, or EHS 5 positions will be ranked and offered interviews according to qualifications they already possess.

Successful Completion of the DPH (Department of Public Health) new hire training courses titled: General EH (EPI, Emergency Preparedness, Lead, Chemical Hazards, Vector Control, IAQ); TA/Pools/Spas and Recreational Waters; Land Use; Food Service; Introduction to Soils; Level 2 Soils Training; Blood Borne Pathogens certifications course; First Aid/CPR; Current and valid certification as an Inspector Level 1 and/or additional Inspector certifications obtained: Drip Emitter, Mound/Area Fill, Commercial, Pump-ST, Pump-PS; Current Georgia Standardized Food Service Establishment Inspection Officer; Certified Safety Manager through one of the following 360training.com, Inc., National Registry of Food Safety Professionals, National Restaurant Association, or Prometric , Inc; Nationally recognized swimming pool operator course through one of the following: CPO, LAFT, CPT, or AFP; Current registration as a registered environmental health specialist or registered sanitarian by the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), or recognized credentialing board of a state or country having equivalent standards of NEHA; Public Health Experience. Proof of completion is required along with a copy of college transcript.
