LOCATION: District Clinical Services, Sumter County Health Department, 1607 North MLK Jr. Blvd., Suite B, Americus, Georgia 31719
DUTIES: Under supervision, this position will be housed in the Sumter County Health Department. Will perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the physician on duty. Administrative duties will include, but are not limited to, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and copying/faxing/mailing documents. Clinical duties will include taking and recording vital signs, drawing blood, collecting specimen, and preparing them for transport, preparing patients for exam, and assisting the physician and nurse practitioner when needed. Travel to satellite offices will be expected. *Experience in Phlebotomy preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Medical Assistant 1: Vocational/Technical degree in medical assisting from an accredited college OR High School diploma or GED AND one year of related experience.
Medical Assistant 2: Vocational/Technical degree in Medical Assisting from an accredited college AND one (1) year of related experience OR High School diploma or GED AND two (2) years of related experience.
All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency.
