LOCATION: Health Promotion, Columbus Dept. of Public Health, 2100 Comer Ave., Columbus, GA, 2nd Floor, Health & Human Services Center
DUTIES: Under supervision, this position provides nutritional and physical activity SNAP-Ed Health Education classes virtual/in-person to the community. Develops relationships with community sites and actively recruits eligible participants for direct nutrition education. Implements Voices for Food Program. Prepare and submit reports to State SNAP-Ed program staff. Conducts community surveys to ascertain health needs, develop desirable health goals, and determine availability of professional health services. Develops and maintains cooperation between public, civic, professional, and voluntary agencies. Prepares and disseminates educational and informational materials. Promotes health discussions in community agencies. Provides information to the public regarding health concerns and resources. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills, such as oral presentations, written reports, articles, and data entry. Must be able to establish effective working relationships with internal and external partners, coalitions, and stakeholders. Must be knowledgeable in Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint. *This position will require travel within West Central Health District’s 16-county health departments as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in public health education from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor’s degree in education, social, behavioral, or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.
All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency.
