SALARY: $54,500.00 Annually
LOCATION: Columbus Department of Public Health, WIC, 5601 Veterans Pkwy, Columbus, GA 31904
DUTIES: This position will manage and evaluate the West Central Health District WIC Breastfeeding and Peer Counselor programs. Coordinate breastfeeding services among all clinic sites to ensure the efficiency of services provided. Develops continuing education, support networks for mothers, and networks for professionals in breastfeeding promotion and support. Implements breastfeeding promotion and support plans, including staff development, community networks, and services to clients. Analyzes available data to develop a strategic plan for continuous quality improvement in breastfeeding services. Provides nutrition and breastfeeding counseling services for participants and community members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health education AND One year of public health education experience at a level equivalent to a lead worker level OR Bachelor’s degree in education, social, behavioral or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of experience in public health education, One year of which was at a lead level OR One year of experience at the lower level Health Educator 3 (HCP032) or position equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Licensure/Certification: Registered Dietitian; Registered Professional Nurse; Current certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). Two years of professional experience in the provision of nutrition or nursing services, one of which was in a community health setting.
All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency.
