To help keep hospital emergency departments open to treat medical emergencies, individuals seeking COVID testing should not go to hospital emergency departments, unless they are experiencing severe COVID-19 symptoms requiring urgent medical attention. Asymptomatic individuals or individuals with mild symptoms should use testing sites other than hospital emergency departments.
There is no charge for testing at any location. All counties have drive-thru testing, weather permitting. *Pre-registration is preferred, but not required.
If you need assistance registering at any district location or need more information, call 833-337-1749 Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
*Self-test Kits are also available 24/7 at our new kiosks located at the Harris County Health Department in Hamilton, and at the Wims Community Center, 7062 Green Grove Road, Lumpkin. Complete your test on site, then place the kit into the kiosk, and the tests will be sent to a lab. You will be notified of the results by email or text in less than 72 hours.
Free home Covid-19 test kits are available to pick up at all county health departments.
