Individuals seeking COVID testing should not go to hospital emergency departments, unless they are experiencing severe COVID-19 symptoms requiring urgent medical attention. Asymptomatic individuals or individuals with mild symptoms should use testing sites other than hospital emergency departments.
Covid-19 testing is available at all health departments during their regular hours at no charge. The locations below have drive-thru testing. If you need more information, call 833-337-1749 Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Columbus Health Department- Testing is held Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at 5601 Veterans Parkway.
Sumter County Health Department – Americus – Monday and Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:15 pm and Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 am to 12:15 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
*Self-test Kits are also available 24/7 at our kiosks located at the Harris County Health Department in Hamilton, and at the Wims Community Center, 7062 Green Grove Road, Lumpkin. These kits now contain supplies for Covid-19 and influenza. Complete your test on site, then place the kit into the kiosk, and the tests will be sent to a lab. You will be notified of the results by email or text in less than 72 hours.
Free home Covid-19 test kits are available to pick up at all county health departments during their regular hours.
