Internships
From time to time, internships may be available in different programs at the Health Department. These are open to college and graduate students who meet the following criteria:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- In good academic standing.
- A citizen of the United States, or lawful resident.
- A satisfactory criminal background check.
- TB test with negative result.
Submission of application does not guarantee an interview. Only candidates who are to be interviewed will be notified.
Clinical Internships
For nursing students who are looking for a clinical internship, with direct patient contact, please complete the Intern Application and Intern-Volunteer Agreement below and send to Julie.Sizemore@dph.ga.gov.

Environmental Health Internships
Interns are currently needed in Columbus and 15 other county health departments to assist the Environmental Health staff in the local county office. Duties include: data entry, organizing/archiving filing system, scan and upload archived files to digital database, and other duties as assigned. Basic office software knowledge and office equipment is necessary. Please indicate which county you prefer and follow instructions above for non-clinical internships.
Georgia Strong Families Internship
An intern is needed in Columbus to help with this program. Responsibilities include assistance for group events for parents, calling and checking up on families, and help with the Baby Bucks store, which provides items for our expectant moms. Please submit the required forms for a non-clinical internship.
Volunteers
Occasionally, certain programs may have the need for volunteers. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States, or lawful resident, pass a criminal background check, and have had a TB test within the last 12 months with negative result. Submission of application does not guarantee placement.
