Time-Limited, Part-Time, Hourly Position
$15.00 per hour
LOCATION: Columbus Department of Public Health, 5601 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Counsel and give breastfeeding information and support to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, including benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers, and getting a good start with breastfeeding. Helps breastfeeding mothers prevent and handle common breastfeeding concerns within the correct scope of practice.
•Builds and maintains a caseload of pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and make routine contacts and conducts follow-up care through phone consultations and in-person outpatient visits to support mothers throughout their breastfeeding journey.
•Available during regular health department hours, weekends, holidays, and outside the standard 8am-5pm work schedule.
•Maintains accurate records of all contacts and keeps all client information confidential.
•Attends, assists and/or facilitates breastfeeding support groups, classes, and community outreach events.
•Build and maintain professional networks with healthcare providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance breastfeeding support services.
•Attend all required training and staff meetings.
This position will be housed in Columbus and will be required to travel to surrounding counties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Has breastfed at least one baby for a minimum of 6 months.
•Can work approximately 10-15 hours per week minimum.
•Has good communication skills.
•Has reliable transportation.
•Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred, but not required.
All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
