SALARY: $31,200.00 Annually


LOCATION: Columbus Health Department, 5601 Veterans Pkwy., Columbus, GA 31904


DUTIES: Under general supervision of the County Nurse Manager, this position will assist in the clinic by taking and recording patients’ vital signs, height, and weight, collection of blood and/or other laboratory specimens, maintain daily laboratory log and prepare specimens for shipping to laboratory. Pulls patient lab results daily and prepares them for the nurse to review. Prepares the exam room for patients. Will perform front office duties to include, but not limited to, patient intake, verifying insurance, collecting/posting payments, answering phone calls, and scheduling appointments. May serve as a chaperone with the nurses during exams.


QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university with one (1) year experience in a related field; or High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in medical assisting; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower-level Medical Assistant 1 (HCT100) or position equivalent.

All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
